Extend Dokeos

Plugins are really tiny components that you can integrate into your existing dokeos installation. Currently there are 3 areas where plugins can be integrated: The first line of the banner, het menu when you are not logged in and the menu when you are logged in. Installing plugins is really simple:
  1. copy the downloaded file into the plugin folder of your Dokeos installation
  2. open inc/conf/claro_main.conf.php file and add the name of the plugin folder to the $plugins["main_menu"], $plugins["main_menu_logged"] or $plugins["banner"] array. The file contains an example
  3. In the near future there will be a development to manage these plugins from the within the platform administration

Test / Production server switch

This plugin is very usefull for the Dokeos Developers as it allows instant switching between the server mode test / production. In Test mode you have higher error reporting, no code that fakes the register_globals=on, ... It is recommended to use this plugin in the header

Tiny Calendar

This plugin adds a tiny calendar to your menu just like the agenda and myAgenda has one. For the moment this calendar does not retrieve the agenda items of your course so it is just a calendar and nothing more.

screenshot for CoolSearch

CoolSearch

This search tool search through all 'my courses' or through all the courses of the platform for the given search term. This plugin uses a full-text search on all the relevant databases (all courses or only my courses) and because of the full-text search it is not very performant. It can be usefull enough for small campuses but for larger campuses the impact on performance has to be investigated. Dokeos is currently investigating a better alternative and we hope to come up with a good search tool soon. For the moment you will have to do it with this plugin.

Session Info 2

This is a slighly changed version of the Session Info plugin. The layer that contains the session info now appears when the link in the banner is clicked. The layer is persistent and is only hidden when the close icon is clicked.

Credit System

Assign credits to courses so that Users must spend ‘credits’ to get a valid subscription. Subscriptions to ‘Credit Courses’ are made selecting ‘Payment Options’, that represent the period of time within the subscription is valid, and so, the access to this ‘Credit Course’ by the User. By default, the plug-in includes one ‘Payment Method’ (‘Paypal’). This is the way a User can ‘buy’ credits to spend in the platform. The plug-in also includes a complete list of payments and subscriptions records, with the possibility to export them into CSV files.
