I have about 50 hours of course content.
It takes a minimum of 5 hours just to speed read it all. In a book format that would be well over 200 pages.
A search feature for text inside of modules would be a big plus.
The challenge is that it will possibly conflict with the prerequiste rules that are already in place.
Maybe you could code it so the search shows all results but then have the prerequisite rule kick in so that learners see what they are looking for, but can only access if they have first viewed these prerequisites.

This feature, called Dokeos DOOGIE, exists, quite exactly like you describe it (taking user rights into account) in Dokeos PRO.
It is based on a XAPIAN full text inexing engine and is also capable of generating a visual thumbnail when resource is an image or a video.
