Feedback & requests features for Survey tool
The following features would be useful in the survey tool.
- no start / end date: allow admin to make a survey available forever
- give admin option to make a survey available to all so that users can see and take that survey through their survey tool.
- give option to let users take survey as many times as they want, not just once
- create option to notify course owner by email each time a survey has been submitted

Do you mean that the trainer sees it and the portal admin does not?
As an admin AND a trainer (registered as co-trainer) in a course, here is what I see :

About automatic emails: your experience is indeed valid, and it would not cost you much to let users decide what they want. I use email filtering and that works very well for me. If I have to pro-actively go see to find out if someone has filled out a survey or not, this will quickly become very annoying in ongoing projects. The same comment applies to quizzes & assignments that the trainer needs to correct. If not email, then something should notify the trainer that s/he has work to do.
About survey reporting not functioning: neither the trainer nor session admin see any results. The reporting remains empty. I have two test users and tried the following:
1. no invitation. Each user used the direct link to answer the survey
2. with email invitation.
At first I tought maybe this was a browser cache issue so I used different browsers, cleared the cache each time.
No luck. Whatever I did led to no reporting data, whether I am logged in as trainer or session admin. It's as if the answers were not saved in the database.
I installed 2.1 about 2 weeks ago, so I assume whatever I have is the latest version (I am not sure where to find that info. You may consider systematically including it in index.php)

As for survey reporting, invitation is needed indeed. And people need to click on final button at the end of the survey.
Can you try when sending an email (most frequent approach) and let me know if it works in this case?

I have already tried to send an email to my test students (to 2 of them actually), filled out the survey, but that didn't do anything.
Here is what I did:
Step 1:
send an invite to 2 test students
fill out the invite by clicking on the link in the email
I used 3 different browsers to do that, and cleared the cache each time (one for the trainer, and one for each student)
Didn't work. Dokeos keeps saying that 0/2 invites have been replied to.
Step 2:
Forget about the invite.
Using different browsers I logged in as each of my test student and filled out the survey through their account.
Cleared the cache of my trainer's browser.

Survey invitation
The process is : Send an invitation, set date to current in survey home, activate Survey tool (should not be EYE icon = closed), then login as student or click on email recieved by student.
By the way, the installation process for Dokeos includes everything but the email configuration. So if you recently installed Dokeos and did nothing to connect your PHP server to your mail server, Dokeos will send no emails.
However, I tested on my local system and indeed, I don't see the reporting either. I mention that to dev team to add possible fix for Dokeos 2.1.2.
