Help: Dokeos

This tool is a LMS, or Learning Management System. It is specially built to improve the quality of learning and teaching, by providing tools to accompany the normal process of a course.

The first steps in using Dokeos depend on what type of users you are...

For users

Your first step as a user will be to register to one course or enter one of the courses you are already subscribed to. To do that, click on the My courses tab, in order to get to your list of courses. Once you have clicked on a course name, you will get into your real learning environment, where you can discover the resources laid down in your course by using the Documents tool, the Exercises tool or the Learning path tool. You will also be able to participate more actively in your course by using a choice of the chat, forum, blog, calendar or announcements tool.

Once in there, another help icon will give you more details about each specific tool.

For teachers

Your first step as a teacher will be to create a course or join an existing course as a teacher. You will first ensure that the course homepage only shows the tools you want to let the users see and use. Other tools can be hidden using the eye icon. A common behaviour is to hide them all, then only show the ones you know you want the users to be using)

Once you have configured these tools, you might want to put some contents in there. The most common tool for that is the Documents tool. You can send many types of documents, which can then be made available to the users. Note that there is a filtering system at the administration level, so if one of your document is blocked, contact your administrator so that he may help you sending this file or explain to you the risks linked to this particular file format.

For administrators

Administration tools are available in the Administration tab. The Platform section allows you to change the behaviour of your campus. Treat these options with care, as they might have important effects on your campus.
