Dokeos:About
From Dokeos
Dokeos is an elearning and course management web application. It is free software (GNU GPL) and its development is an international, collaborative effort.
Dokeos focus points:
- userfriendliness and consistency
- simplicity
- flexibility
- a tool for good learning
- interoperability
Lately we've added a lot of new features, that's why consistency in style and tool functionality is now one of the main focus points, along with integrating Dokeos with other systems. We also try to follow standards and be able to communicate with other systems.
Dokeos development
In our development, we take elements from extreme programming, usability theory, and collaborative open source development methodology, like the ideas in the Cathedral and the Bazaar.
Specifically, we are very open (Be open to the point of promiscuity). Our forum is used by many Dokeos users around the world for discussion, feedback, bug reports, and more. We publish the agenda and minutes of all our meetings, and our roadmap is also public. Users can ask for features on the forum, or edit themselves the dreammap of possible future features. All our designs and developer documentation is publicly available on this wiki. Everyone who registers can contribute.
We release beta versions and testreleases and have an unstable online campus where everyone can test the latest CVS code (currently the campus is updated every two weeks, you can also easily download the CV code there).
