Red5, if required to use port 80, needs obviously root access (because of the know UNIX limitation), so you have to start it using that account.

Red5 0.6 is out now, in consequence, the explanations below are obsolete.

Starting red5 0.6 rc1:

 WARNING: This is the old red5 location, look further down for the current one

su red5
cd /home/red5/backup/
sudo nohup ./red5.sh &

You may now safely disconnect.

Starting red5 r1749:

su red5
cd /home/red5/distr1749_15032007/
sudo nohup ./red5.sh &

You may now safely disconnect.
