Platform Admin Manual: Add users to the platform
From Dokeos
A platform administrator can add users to the campus. This can be done by clicking 'Add users' in the users section of the platform administration page. You will see a form with the following fields ADD SCREENSHOT
- Last Name: the last name or family name of the user you want to add
- First Name: the first name of the user you want to add
- Official Code (ID): Official Code is an identifier you will give to that user that is generally bound to your internal
organisation's rules. This is not mandatory. In universities for instance this is normaly the student number. In organisations this can be the personnel code.
- Email: e-mail is not mandatory but if there is no e-mail address, it will be impossible to send the
registration confirmation (with generated password) to the user. Dokeos does not accept capital letters in the e-mail field
- Phone number: not mandatory.
- Picture: not mandatory.
- Login: login is mandatory as it will be used to log onto the Dokeos platform. The login and the password are used to uniquely identify the user.
- Password: In this case there are two possibilities. You can let the dokeos system create a random password or you can enter a password. The generated password will be probably hard to remind for the user but the advantage is that it is probably more secure than an entered password. The user normally can change his/her password through 'My Profile' (if the platform admin did not disable this)
- Status: On a dokeos campus you are either a student that can follow courses or a teacher that can create courses.
- Platform Admin: if you put yes here than the user will have full controll over your campus and will be able to do whatever you can. Normally there is only one platform admin or a very limited number of platform admins. This gives the user full power on your Dokeos campus. Do not use “Yes?
unless you know what you do
- Send mail to new user (Yes/No): If the email address has been entered and you check yes then the user will receive an e-mail with his registration information. The mail looks like this
ADD THE MAIL HERE
Once the user has been created, you get a list of users currently registered on your Dokeos system
Adding a lot of users to the platform one by one can be very tedious. That's why there is also a possibility to import a list of users from a XML/CSV file.
