If you have found the user you want to change (trough the search functionality or through browsing) then you can edit this user by clicking on the edit icon image:Edit.gif in the last column.

In this screen you can change the following properties of the user

  • Last name
  • First name
  • Official Code (ID)
  • Email
  • Phone number
  • Picture
  • Login
  • Status (Teacher/Student)
  • Platform Administrator (Yes/No)
  • Password

Most of these properties are quite obvious but I want to focus on two properties:

  • Status
  • Platform Administrator

Both of these properties determine what the user is allowed to do on your Dokeos installation:

  • The status field is used to indicate if the user is a student who follows courses or a teachers who teaches courses. The difference in both is that a teacher is allowed to create a course area (see teachers manual) while a student cannot do this.
  • The platform administrator will be set to No for most of the users. If it is set to Yes than this person has full control over your Dokeos installation. (S)He can do whatever you as a platform administrator can do (since you are reading this manual I'm assuming that you are a platform administrator of a dokeos campus).
