Registration

A normal Dokeos installation has free registration. This means that everybody can create an account for that Dokeos installation. Some institution do not allow free registration (this can be done through the Dokeos Config Settings in the platform administration). This means that the institution provides the login and passwords or that an external authentication method is used (LDAP for instance)

When registration is allowed you can create your own account:

• Click on Registration in the right menu of the login page.
• Fill the fields. Fields that are required are indicated with a red asterisk (*). These fields can be (can be configured through the Dokeos Config Settings in the platform administration)
  • Last name
  • First name
  • Official Code: This can be the student number
  • User name: the name that the student will use to log in.
  • Password: the password that the user has to remember to log in. The password field will get filled with asterisks (*) as you type. Each asterisk is one keystroke. The combination of user name and password identifies and certifies the user.
  • Confirmation: Here you have to type the password again. This is to prevent typing errors
  • Email: your e-mail addres. Some tools can send e-mails. Make sure you give a valid e-mail addres or your registration will fail.
  • Status: You may have the choice between Follow courses (student) and Create courses (teachers). The platform administrator can disable the Create course option. By consequence you can only register as student. Teachers will then probably send a mail to the platform administrator to change their status to 'teacher'
• Click the OK button
• You will see a message saying that your account has been activated. There is also an e-mail with your login and password sent to the e-mail addres you gave.
• Click the Next button
• You will now arrive in the course registration section

Login

after you have created your account you are automatically logged in. The next time however you will have to use the user name and the password you chose when you were creating your account. When you go to the main page of the Dokeos Campus you will notice that the username field has automatically focus (the blinking |). You can immediately type your login name. When you have done this you can use your mouse and click in the password field (or faster: use the tab button on your keyboard). You can now type your password. You will notice that your password does not appear but only asterisks (*). This is normal and prevents others from obtaining your password by looking over your shoulder. If you have done typing your password you can click on the OK button (or faster: use the enter button on your keyboard). If everything is allright you will be logged in: your name is in the banner (second line) and you see My course list

If you are not logged in you will see a red error message. This means that your user name / password combination was not correct. This can have several reason. See the FAQ for possible causes/solutions: FAQ: I can't log in

Logout

If you want to log out Dokeos, you only have the click on the logout button at the top of the page. If you can’t log out, a red error message will be shown. See the FAQ for possible causes/solutions: FAQ: I can't log out
