Wolfgang: I am apparently not getting it regarding the possible advantage: (A) course based: 2 courses => 2 copies of learning object; (B) user based: 5 users each in 2 courses => already 5 (or is it 10) copies of learning object? ... Where is the advantage?
- It's not just that - courses used to hold learning objects, every course with its own storage. This changes: every course now links to learning objects that are stored ONCE somewhere outside all courses: inside the learning object repository. 5 users in 2 courses, simply see the learning objects that are referred to in these courses. They don't have to have a copy of the objects somewhere in their own user folder. Every learning object is owned by some user and is stored in that users' part of the repository, and can be displayed without duplication to thousands of users in hundreds of courses. -- Roan
