I wouldn’t get onto a plane whose pilot had been tested only with multiple-choice tests. The fact is, if we are not careful, an MCQ does not evaluate competence, but knowledge, and knowledge is not enough to respond to the many possible situations during a flight.
Nevertheless, we can do a lot of things with a MCQ. Provided that we do a little grammar to introduce the right level of complexity in the questions, the responses and the conditions that activate the opening of the sub-question.
What I call reasoning is the capacity of a person or a group to respond to a series of questions and sub-questions in order to reject or confirm a hypothesis based on data taken from experience. Now let’s see how an MCQ can evaluate a person’s capacity to reason.
